Each year at Dreamforce we host the Salesforce Consulting Partner Innovation Awards - highlighting and celebrating the incredible examples of customer success and business transformation delivered by our Consulting Partners.

I’m pleased to announce that the nomination process for the 2017 Salesforce Consulting Partner Innovation Awards is open. The following instructions include submission requirements, award categories, customer story template details, deadlines and other important details. It’s important to note that the deadline for submissions is Thursday, August 31, 2017 - 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Winners will be formally announced at Dreamforce ‘17 during the Salesforce Consulting Partner Innovation Awards winner reception, Sunday, November 5th at 4:30PM in San Francisco. The Salesforce WW Alliances & GTM Innovation team looks forward to honoring the winners and showcasing the amazing work being done by our partners.

2017 Salesforce Consulting Partner Innovation Awards

The 2017 Salesforce Consulting Partner Innovation Awards are designed to recognize outstanding contributions made by our Consulting Partners. Awards are based on customer success stories that showcase innovation across specific categories. The 2017 Salesforce Consulting Partner Innovation Awards encompass the following categories:

Selection Process
Winning customer success stories will be selected based on the following key criteria:
  • Incorporation of key technical elements
  • Compelling nature of the business challenge
  • Customer ROI and/or measurable success
  • Social – inclusion of Chatter and integration with other social technologies
  • Mobile – solution can be accessed across a range of mobile devices
  • Ecosystem Breadth – inclusion of multiple partner solutions

Award Winner Notification
Award recipients will be notified no later than Tuesday, October 10, 2017. See last year's winners (2016).

Award Winner Benefits
  • Award Winners will receive 6 invitations to the Consulting Innovation Awards Ceremony and Reception, Sunday, November 5, 2017 in San Francisco.
  • Award Winners will have a Photo Opportunity with Salesforce, Alliances & GTM Innovation Leadership at the Consulting Innovation Awards Reception.
  • Award Winners will be mentioned in a Salesforce Blog Post by Tyler Prince.
  • Award Winners will be given a “Consulting Partner Innovation Award Winner” icon to showcase in their Dreamforce booth (if applicable).
  • Award Winners will be included in an Internal Marketing Campaign to Salesforce direct AE’s and SEs.
  • Award Winners will be highlighted in the Partner Community.
  • Award Winners will be eligible to issue a press release about their accolade post Dreamforce.
Eligibility
All active Salesforce Consulting Partners are eligible to submit success stories for customer engagements completed between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017.

Please note that both you and your customer must be willing to share the story publicly throughout Dreamforce 2017. Your customer does not need to be present at Dreamforce for your story to be eligible; however, they must be willing to grant permission to the public mention of their company name in reference to the award.

Submission Process (now closed)
The process has changed since last year, so please review these steps carefully:

Step 1 - Join the Consulting Partner Innovation Awards Group on the Partner Community (login required)

Step 2 - Download the Consulting Partner Customer Story Template (SI) and complete the template with your details

Step 3 - Launch the Survey - complete the form and submit your customer story.

Submit your best customer stories by 5pm Pacific on Thursday, August 31, 2017.

Customer Story Template Instructions
To submit your 2017 Salesforce Consulting Partner Innovation Awards customer success story, you must include a Customer Story Template and provide all of the following requested information:

1. Story Overview (Slide 1)
Provide key story details including customer company background, business challenges addressed, solution descriptions, and results.

Challenge: Set the context for the story by describing the primary challenges the client faced prior to deploying Salesforce, both from a functional and technical perspective. Be sure to include details that are relevant to companies facing similar challenges.
Solution: Provide information on Salesforce specific products and technologies deployed, and describe how the solution addressed the challenges. Highlight key technologies that were replaced as well as notable integrations with third party systems.
Results: Detail the specific customer benefits as well as how the solution helped transform the way they run their business. Be sure to include any quantitative business results obtained by the customer.

2. More Detailed Information & Quantitative Results (Slide 2)
We encourage submissions to include additional detail such as:
  • Collaboration with Salesforce during the selling process and/or execution Implementation best-practices and/or key lessons learned
  • Reasons the client chose to partner with you or purchase your commercial solution (e.g. industry experience, product experience, co-selling with the Salesforce team, etc.)
  • A customer quote regarding your work and the business impact of the solution
3. Solution Detail (Consulting) (Slide 3)
Provide any additional solution details that will assist us in evaluating your nomination, including competitive information, specific technologies that were replaced or utilized, or integration detail.

4. Screenshots of Solution (Slides 4-6)
Include screenshots of the solution that demonstrate how Salesforce technology (or your commercial solution built on Salesforce technology) supports the customer’s business and addresses the defined challenges.

5. Public Sharing Guidelines (Slide 7)
Both you and your customer must be willing to share the story publicly to be eligible for an award. Please provide customer reference contact information and indicate which promotional opportunities your customer is willing to participate.

Note: Please note there is no need to resubmit these stories after the Consulting Partner Innovation Awards have wrapped up. If you would like to nominate a customer story that you previously submitted, please email partnerstories@salesforce.com with the name of the customer, and we will denote that submission as a nomination for the awards. In addition, all customer stories nominated for the Consulting Partner Innovation Awards will be counted towards your Partnership Value Score (PVS).

Frequently Asked Questions 
Q: Who is eligible to nominate a customer story?
A: All active Salesforce Consulting Partners are eligible to submit success stories for customer engagements completed between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017. Please note that both you and your customer must be willing to share the story publicly throughout Dreamforce 2017. Your customer does not have to be present at Dreamforce; however, they must be willing to grant permission to the public mention of their company name in reference to the award.  Also note, Commerce Cloud Partners are not eligible for the award this Program Year.  We look forward to Commerce Cloud partners participating in the future!

Q: I'm a Salesforce AppExchange Partner (ISV). Is there a process for AppExchange Partners this year?
A: The innovation awards this year are for Consulting Partners only. Please follow the Official: AppExchange Partner Program Group for any future announcements.

Q: What types of stories qualify for an award?
A: Awards are based on customer success stories that showcase innovation across specific categories. The 2017 Salesforce Consulting Partner Innovation Awards includes awards based on multiple categories. All of these details are included in the instructions. Please note that all submissions are subject to validation by the Salesforce customer account team.

Q: How do I submit an award nomination?
A: To nominate a customer story, download the Partner Customer Story Template (Partner Community login required) from the Partner Community and follow the steps in the instructions above. If you would like to nominate a story that you previously submitted, please email partnerstories@salesforce.com with the name of the customer, and we will denote that submission as a nomination for the awards as long as it fits within the eligible date range.

Q: Do nominated stories count towards my Partnership Value Score (PVS)?
A: Yes. All customer stories nominated for the awards will be counted towards your Partnership Value Score (PVS). There is no need to resubmit these stories after the Consulting Partner Innovation Awards have wrapped up as you will automatically get credit for them.

Q: What if I have already submitted a customer story earlier in the year, do I need to resubmit?
A: No, If you would like to nominate a customer story that you previously submitted (as long as it was submitted during the time period for award consideration), please email partnerstories@salesforce.com with the name of the customer, and we will denote that submission as a nomination for the awards.

Q: It looks like the award process if only for consulting partners this year, what about AppExchange Partners (ISV) or Authorized Resellers?
A: That is correct, the Innovation Awards process for this year is only for consulting partners who submit customer stories based on completed projects.

Q: How will the winners be selected?
A: A panel of Salesforce judges will review all eligible submissions received by Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 5PM PST. Winners will be selected based on the following:
  • Compelling nature of business challenge, i.e., story illustrates how the technology has a meaningful impact on the way the customer runs their business
  • Incorporation of key technical elements:
    • Social – inclusion of Chatter and integration with other social technologies
    • Mobile – solution can be accessed across a range of mobile devices
    • Ecosystem Breadth – inclusion of other partner solutions
  • Customer ROI and/or measurable success
  • Public awareness of customer company and brand
Q: When will the winners be notified?
A: We’ll notify the winners via email no later than Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Upon notification, the winners will be required to provide a customer contact and written confirmation from the customer regarding their willingness to be mentioned in announcements and other promotional activities at Dreamforce 2017. Inability to contact a potential winner within a reasonable time may result in disqualification.

Q: How can I submit a press release?
A:
Award winners will be allowed to submit a press release after Dreamforce. Salesforce will provide a press release template that will be shared with each winner that you can use to draft your release. Submit your press release to sfpartners@nectarpr.com on or after November 13 for approval before issuing. Winners are allowed to post a blog post as soon as the awards are announced -- blog posts do not need to be approved by Salesforce prior to posting.

Q: If multiple partners are involved in the solution, who receives the award?
A:
The partner who submits the customer story is eligible to receive the award. If multiple partners submit the same customer story, and it is selected for an award, partners will share the award.
